Additional Support Needs

Supporting you during your visit

If you require additional support during your visit, please do not hesitate to let us know. We have a range of ways we can help assist you while booking your appointment and attending a clinic or inpatient stay with us.

Examples of the services we can offer are:

  • We can arrange for an interpreter to join you for your appointments.
  • We can arrange for your carer to stay with you in hospital while you are an inpatient with us (Covid-19 restrictions permitting).
  • If you are living with dementia, short term memory loss, a learning disability or a hidden disability, our Occupational Therapist will carry out a person-centred assessment so we can best support your needs.
  • We can arrange for longer appointments if you require more time.
  • We can try to book you the first appointment of the day when it is quieter.
  • For patients with autism, or people who find busy areas distressing, a private/quiet waiting area can be arranged.
  • Provide pen/ paper or whiteboard for communication.
  •  We have portable induction loops in all areas of the Hospital.
  • We can arrange for a sign language interpreter to join you for your appointments.
  • We have procedure specific information available in large print and screen reader versions.
