Dr Sushen Bhattacharyya is an award-winning consultant physician and geriatrician based in London. Dr Bhattacharyya practices privately at King Edward VII’s Hospital, as well as, BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital, St John & St Elizabeth Hospital and for the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust at Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow.
Dr Bhattacharyya’s work in acute and general medicine for adults goes alongside his significant work in geriatric medicine, where he takes a holistic approach to the management of multiple and complex chronic medical conditions. This includes drop attacks, frailty and falls as well as pre and post-operative assessment and stroke rehabilitation. His other interests include cardiovascular problems, including hypertension, heart failure and cardio-neurovascular syndrome.
He is renowned for his inclusive style of treatment, encouraging patients and their families to get involved in their care while understanding the importance of timely communication for effective management.
Dr Bhattacharyya leads the industry-leading orthogeriatrics services of his NHS trust and has received NHS Clinical Excellence Awards for his expert practice. His expertise was fostered by an impressive educational base, with gold medals in his MBBS in Medicine and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (DTM&H) from the University of Calcutta, India.
He has also been decorated for his educational work, which currently sees him in the role of course director for the IMPACT course of his NHS trust and has received excellence awards in teaching by Imperial College London. Dr Bhattacharyya also continues to actively teach and train undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
Further to his top clinical practice and medical education awards, Dr Bhattacharyya has been recognised by Imperial College London for innovation, research & development. Dr Bhattacharyya is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London, and a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and the British Medical Association (BMA).
