Dr Abdul Shlebak is a Consultant Haematologist at King Edward VII's Hospital specialising in Haemostasis & Thrombosis, Obstetric Haematology, Thrombophilia and Antithrombotic therapy. {{ label }}
Dr Shlebak completed his MBChB in Tripoli Libya in 1986 with first honours and best graduate prize. Following general medical training in the West of Scotland (MRCP in 1991) he completed his Haematology training at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Royal Liverpool University Hospital completing DRCPath and MRCPath in 1995.
He became a lecturer at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School (RPMS) at Hammersmith Hospital 1996-1998 to oversee the Haematology MSc programme. During that post, he undertook research in cord blood progenitor stem cells and completed an M.D degree University of London in 2000.
He was appointed as a consultant and honorary senior lecturer at St Mary’s hospital in 1998 leading on haemostasis & thrombosis obstetric haematology & transfusion. At the inception of first academic health centre in the UK in 2008, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, he was appointed as the lead for haematology & Transfusion diagnostic services. Since 2017 and following the creation of North West London Pathology (NWLP) consortium modernisation where he leads on haematology & Blood transfusion pathology services for.
Dr Shlebak is Imperial Haematology training programme (since 2014) Unit Training lead (UTL) and Chair for local faculty group (LFG). He is an Imperial College undergraduate teacher and a co-convenor of BSc haemostats module. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists. Dr Shlebak led as the national haematology expert for the RCPath National Medical Laboratory Catalogue (NMLC).
